Why is Sunnyside ABA coming to Clackamas?
Katy is excited that life has brought her to Clackamas - her fiance’s hometown - which has created the opportunity to start up Sunnyside ABA as a next chapter in Katy’s ABA journey. Katy’s vision is for Sunnyside ABA to develop the next generation of ABA leaders who will help scale her treatment strategies to children diagnosed with ASD within the Clackamas community. At Sunnyside ABA, Katy strongly believes that focusing time to understand each child and their unique interests is essential in developing effective and holistic treatment strategies. By prioritizing our clients’ individuality, Sunnyside ABA creates personalized treatment plans that accelerate client engagement yielding meaningful progress. This empathetic approach forms the foundation of Katy’s practice and ensures that each child receives the support and guidance they need to thrive.
What is Katy’s professional background in ABA?
For the past decade, Katy had the pleasure of working with over 110 clients - ranging from two to 22 years old - throughout the Seattle Area. She worked for a wide range of ABA practices - clinics, in-home, telehealth, private schools/academies. As a Clinical Director, Katy built, trained, and led over 65 staff - BCBAs, RBTs, operational personnel and more - to implement her ABA treatment strategies focusing on personalization at the individual level, processes that yield the highest quality results, and approaching each person as a whole to bring out the happiest version of themselves.
What is Katy’s educational background in ABA?
In 2014, Katy completed her undergraduate degree in psychology from University of Washington and embarked on her journey in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) as a RBT (Registered Behavior Technician). Katy quickly discovered her passion in working with children diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) as she takes extreme gratification out of making meaningful impacts to her clients’ - including their families’ - quality of life. Katy's passion has driven her to complete a master’s degree in special education - with a concentration on ABA - from Arizona State University. Subsequently, Katy was immediately promoted to BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) and then Clinical Director.
